Members of the Kurdish American Youth share
the loss of Mrs. Soraya Serajeddini. She had shone and will shine
as a symbol of Kurdayetî at the KNC conferences
and throughout her life. She was a true inspiration for the Kurdish youth
with her understanding and compassion especially for Kurdish women as a symbol
of defiance and self-dependence. Mrs. Soraya was as borderless as a Kurdish
Hawk; there was not an obstacle too high for her to climb or a path too rough
for her to tread. Her family's loss is our loss as well as Kurdistan’s
loss for it has been due to women like her with utmost dedication that we
are able to have the motivation to carry on the Kurdish struggle today. Soraya
xan’s hard work and effort will not be forgotten. We as the future
of Kurdistan will continue on her path for a better Kurdistan for all of
us.
We would like to request from KNC to start
an annual award in honor of Mrs. Soraya-Serajadini’s dedication and memory to
recognize and encourage Kurdish women throughout North America-those
women who are walking down Soraya xan’s selfless path of
serving the Kurdish cause and Kurdistan.
“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon
as the end of the ocean” said a wise man. Soraya xan has
touched us all and placed herself as a symbol of Kurdish courage
and dedication in our hearts. She will continually live within
us and guide us through the path of dedication, selflessness and
service to Kurdistan. Her leadership and hard work will be greatly
missed!
