On Friday April 7th, Kurdish American Youth
members participated in a second University's International Day
for Culture. Tennessee State University hosted the event in which
many of the different nations around the world represented their
cultures and Kurdistan was again among them.

The Kurdish students at Tennessee State
University took part in the International Fair at their University
by setting up a Kurdistan booth and displaying the beautiful Kurdish
culture for students, faculty and visitors to see and learn to
about the Kurdish people.
Several different cultures were displayed at the International
Fair and many students participated in the event. At the Kurdistan
booth, there was music, instruments, carpets and other pieces displayed
to show the richness of the Kurdish culture. There were several
displays of traditional Kurdish clothing of different styles for
the visitors of the booth to see. The Kurdish students at the booth
gave brief lessons regarding the history and culture of the Kurdish
people and their forgotten homeland, Kurdistan. The event was the
second of its kind, following the International Day at the University
of Texas at Dallas where the Kurdish American Youth hosted a similar
booth. Through the freedom of expression and culture, events like
International Day are a way for different peoples of the world
to share their culture with one another. Young Kurds wish to continue
to participate in events like this in the future.
