How Will History Remember Me?

Kurdish American Youth - by Suzan Haji | 17-Dec-05

Do I have no right to be remembered?

Have I not forsaken everything hundred times over?

Say it to my face, tell me I am nothing?

Why must I, Kurdistan be treated thus?

I've dreamt a million dreams to see what has yet to come; PEACE

My burdens are heavy.

Take away the pain I've endured.

Tell me I have lived through all this heartache

to finally reach my destination.

Offer me your hand oh friend.

Don't let me down again.

I've faced enough betrayal to last a life time.

This wariness must cease.

Let me rest and celebrate for all the years in darkness.

I am tired and old.

Let me Breath a new day.

So many memories in these eyes of mine.

So many stories to be told and to reverie a book

of so many plights.

Grant my wish, let me sleep in silence.

Don't forsake what I hold dear.

Kurdistan needs to be remembered.

History will know all these sorrows.
