Press Release: Kurdish American Youth Organization (KAYO)

Conference/Celebration Locations: University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and The Richardson Hotel in Richardson, Texas

The Kurdish American Youth Organization (KAYO) will be holding its second annual conference at the University of Texas at Dallas followed by a celebration at the the Richardson Hotel in Richardson, Texas.

The purpose of the conference is to reach out to the Kurdish Youth across North America and to promote leadership and education among the youth, as well as to establish partnerships and help spread Kurdish awareness. The venue will also host the official KAYO elections and extends participation to the current active members of KAYO to serve as the next leading young body for their respective communities.

The establishment of the first independent national Kurdish youth organization in North America, KAYO, succeeded in bringing together young Kurds from various communities nationwide. In gathering motivated and dedicated youth with diverse views, interests, and commitments, KAYO accomplished several of its goals including the promotion of education and the involvement of the youth in their respective Kurdish communities through a series of projects and events.

With the help of hard-working youth, generous contributing families, and many caring community members, KAYO held its first conference one year ago. KAYO members are engaged in a wide variety of projects that deal with education and student networking in the United States, research of educational institutes in Kurdistan, Kurdish cultural programs and more. KAYO hosted multiple events in different states over the summer, including a picnic, a concert, and also hosted various Kurdish cultural shows in different universities across the United States.

KAYO continues to move forward an active body promoting continued dialogue and discussion among the Kurdish Youth and wishes to pursue its goal with the hosting of the annual conference for the Kurdish Youth in North America. This year’s conference will be yet another unique experience that will provide young Kurds with a venue to discuss their ideas.

Many different speakers will be invited to the event addressing a number of topics and sharing their views. The conference will take place on February 9th from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

The conference will be followed by a celebration featuring the famous Kurdish singer, AYHAN. Performances by up and coming singer, Ranj Chener, and professional musician, Dilsad, will also be featured. The celebration will begin at 7PM.
